By January 3, 2018No Comments

Beginning January 1, 2018, CBC Mortgage Agency will require all Loan Applications taken after January 1, 2018 to include the Universal Loan Identifier (ULI) number along with the new Demographic Information Addendum. This information is required under HMDA effective the first day of January 2018. CBC Mortgage Agency understands the new, Updated Fannie Mae Form 1003 contains fields for all of the new required data, however it is incumbent upon all of our correspondent partners to ensure the required data is obtained and included with the Loan Application. As well, our client portal site has been enhanced to support the data capture of the new demographic information, and a new field has been created for the ULI.

The Universal Loan Identifier (ULI) is a unique number of 23 to 45 characters that begin with your Legal Identity Identifier. For those who have not registered for their LEI number below are the steps to perform to get this information:

The LEI is a unique, 20-digit alphanumeric identifier issued by a utility and endorsed by the LEI Regulatory Oversight Committee or endorsed or otherwise governed by the Global LEI Foundation or a successor organization. Financial institutions can go to the Global LEI Foundation website, to obtain an LEI.

The user will need to go to the following website link: https://www.gleif.org/en/about-lei/how-to-get-an-leifind-lei-issuing-organizations

This link will take users to the Global Legal Entity Identifier site, where they can choose a LEI issuer’s website of choice to sign up for their LEI number. The client will then need to know general information about their company and submit payment for their LEI number.
