As a tribally owned, federally chartered, governmental agency, we strive to increase affordable and sustainable homeownership opportunities nationwide for all creditworthy, low- to moderate-income individuals.

About Us

CBC Mortgage Agency was formed in 2013 by the Cedar Band Corporation, a tribally owned enterprise wholly owned by the Cedar Band of Paiutes, with a goal to diversify the tribe’s business interest. Cedar Band Corporation operates 9 subsidiaries both on and off the reservation to promote economic self-sufficiency.

Through the Chenoa Fund™ program, CBC Mortgage Agency offers down payment assistance to creditworthy, low- to moderate income individuals. Our program is offered to all creditworthy individuals nationwide, excluding New York state. CBC Mortgage Agency partners with quality mortgage lenders on a correspondent basis.

CBC Mortgage Agency is dedicated to increasing homeownership in diverse communities. To date, we have assisted over 25,000 borrowers with their down payment, of which 55% are minority and 75% are first-time homebuyers. To assist all our borrowers successfully transition to homeownership, we provide 18 months of post purchase counseling from a HUD-approved counseling agency.

CBC Mortgage Agency is not affiliated with or acting on behalf of the FHA, FNMA, VA, or USDA. The Chenoa Fund™ program has not been reviewed or approved by HUD, FHA, or FNMA.

Leadership

Richard Ferguson, Founder

Mr. Ferguson graduated from Brigham Young University in Economics. He began his career as a loan officer in 1993, becoming a top producer. In 2000 he helped to build one of the nation’s largest down payment assistance providers, which he left in 2004. Mr. Ferguson later co-founded a business finance platform in 2006, which was later acquired, to provide credit and financing opportunities to small businesses. Mr. Ferguson has also been an angel investor in several companies involving technology, manufacturing, retail and renewable energy. In 2013, Mr. Ferguson was recruited to lead CBC Mortgage Agency in providing responsible homeownership solutions to deserving homeowners.

Miki Adams, President

Miki has spent more than 20 years managing change and productivity through calm and tumultuous economies in the residential mortgage business. She has produced excellent results in big and small companies. Her experience extends across all phases of residential mortgage lending, including retail and wholesale originations, quality control and compliance, underwriting through post closing activities, capital markets/loan sales, and legacy loan portfolio management.

Michael Whipple, Senior Vice President

Michael graduated from Brigham Young University and the University of Michigan
Law School. He practiced law as a transactional attorney before entering into the
mortgage services industry. He has been an executive with CBC Mortgage Agency since 2013.

Matt Pettit, Vice President, National Program Director

Matt has ten years of experience in B2B sales in the business lending and mortgage lending industries. His expertise within CBC Mortgage Agency is in onboarding new lenders to offer the program and training their processing and post-closing departments.

Buck Hawkins, Director of Capital Markets

Buck has twenty years mortgage banking experience, including retail, consumer direct, and wholesale platform experience. He has created, managed, and grown divi-
sions into efficient and profitable channels. His experience includes all aspects of capital markets, originations, credit, and collateral risk.

Mat LaMunyon, Servicing Manager

Mat has eleven years experience in mortgage banking, including, servicing, investor reporting, investor accounting, compliance, post closing, and loss mitigation. He has created and managed full servicing departments. His experience includes all aspects of post closing, loan servicing, and investor relationship management.

Chris Tyrrell, Due Diligence Underwriting Manager

Chris comes to the company with close to 20 years of industry experience developing teams and managing roles with Credit, Quality Control, and Compliance. With a passion for helping people succeed, Chris has always gravitated toward management and strategy, finding a balance between protecting risk and maximizing production. Chris is honored to be a member of an organization with a commitment to integrity and people, and with a core value system that is unmatched. He is so proud of CBCMA’s drive and dedicated approach to responsible lending while providing opportunities for affordable and sustainable homeownership across the nation. Chris finished his education in the Cal State system in Business Management and has worked in the mortgage industry ever since!

Tai Christensen, Chief Diversity Officer + Director of Governmental Affairs

Tai Christensen has been in the mortgage industry for over 17 years, specializing in working with the underserved. She has held positions as a loan processor, the manager of a mortgage brokerage specializing in modifying loans for families facing foreclosure, and as the manager of a law firm specializing in negotiating mortgage terms for families facing Trustee Auction dates. She is committed to assisting the underserved, creditworthy communities become responsible homeowners and building intergenerational wealth through homeownership.
