Helping Native Americans Become First-time Homebuyers With The Kani Urban Indian Housing Initiative

CBC Mortgage Agency is excited to help make an impact in our Native American community when it comes to providing assistance for first-time homebuyers in a highly competitive market. Our goal is to increase homeownership through the Kani Urban Indian Housing Initiative, an outreach program that focuses on providing down payment assistance to urban Indians wanting to transition from renting to homeownership.

The Kani Urban Housing Initiative’s mission is to provide educational resources and financial assistance to urban-dwelling American Indian and Alaska Native peoples in order to help increase access to homeownership within their communities. This mission is in line with CBC Mortgage Agency’s program, Chenoa Fund, which provides down payment assistance to those that are challenged with making the transition to owning a home.

Did you know that the urban Indian community currently spends more money proportionately on rent than non-Indian renters? Additionally, 78% of all American Indians and Alaska Natives live off the reservation, with over 70% living in urban areas. The Kani Initiative, combined with the Chenoa Fund down payment assistance program, aims to increase homeownership within this community. We understand the unique challenges the native community faces in becoming homeowners and we aim to bring financial solutions to help them overcome their obstacles and successfully transition into sustainable homeownership.

Through the Kani Initiative, creditworthy urban Indians have an opportunity to turn the dream of homeownership into a reality. CBC Mortgage Agency’s Chenoa Fund down payment assistance program may be able to provide financial resources to help families secure sustainable housing and build family memories that will last for generations.

Visit www.chenoafund.org to learn how CBC Mortgage Agency’s Chenoa Fund may be able to help Native Americans become homeowners with the right down payment assistance to make owning a home achievable and affordable.
